First it was Valentine's Day. Pink roses. Then the birds began to sing. I was dancing in the kitchen. The sun was shining on the rain and the rain was falling on the sunshine. Fragrance: Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet. And then there was Fats Waller and a different kind of spring cleaning. [click here to listen on Spotify]:
Kicking off the new year with some creative inspiration:
Mr. Turner an award winning film about the life and career of one of Britain's best-loved painters, J.M.W. Turner. Written and directed by Mike Leigh. Leigh has described Turner as "a great artist: a radical, revolutionary painter. I felt there was scope for a film examining the tension between this very mortal, flawed individual, and the epic work, the spiritual way he had of distilling the world."
Developing Your Signature Style a workshop from Make it in Design.
Filling my sketchbook with collages as a kind of visual exploration.
Make Art That Sells: Assignment Bootcamp with illustration agent Lilla Rogers.
Poking around this website, refreshing my Portfolio and Shop + Licensing page. Ops! That reminds me that it's time to add some new designs to my shop at Redbubble! I love how duvet covers have been added as a product, it's so much fun to design for home decor!
Collage. A workshop with artist Birgitta Kahri.
Taking a look at my shop at Creative Market. Thinking of how I can develop it in 2015, what products to focus on and rebranding it.
I've been experimenting with Pinterest and Flipboard, as ways to collect, save and share visual inspiration. As with any type of social media it's a struggle to not fall into the rabbit hole and let time slip away as you browse and interact.
Different types of material seem to fit better for different spaces. Pinterest is the place for images and Flipboard is the space for articles and reading. For example, my Flipboard magazine for Patterns & Textures is beginning to gather dust, because I very rarely come across articles on the topic, and so I've decided to end the project.
Instead I've started a new magazine, where I gather bits and pieces of personal inspiration. Take a look at Creative Spark: inspiration, ideas and process.
Lately I've been experimenting with making magazines on Flipboard, as a compliment to curating with Pinterest.
I've got a few different themes on the go, one of them is Patterns where I share surface pattern design, fabrics, structure, textures, embroidery, patina, stitching, rust, pattern repeats, floral, paper products, fashion, textiles, hand drawn, vintage, wallpapers, websites, geometric, argyle, tips, techniques and patterns and textures found in nature.

Updated December 16th with a new Flipboard magazine that replaces this one.
