Last Saturday it was The Day of Cherry Blossom (sakura matsuri) in the downtown park Kungsträdgården. There was so much to see and do and be inspired by! Ikebana (the art of flower arranging), Igo (board game), Tenugui hand towels, origami, kimonos, calligraphy, and manga. Different types of Japanese food and a tea ceremony. A Cosplay show, Yosakoi dancing, a Lolita fashion show as well as Budo Taijutsu, a practical natural real fighting and philosophical martial arts system deeply founded in the lore of the mystic warriors of feudal Japan, both the Samurai and the Ninja.
This time of year it feels like nature is bursting with energy, creation happening at a fast pace, every day, every moment. This year I feel that way inside too, bursting to the seams with creative expression, I can barely keep up with myself.
One of the things I've done lately is to create a series of geometric patterns and make them available for licensing via Pattern Bank. I designed this collection of patterns inspired by the triangular patterns of the fifties, with the soft and vibrant pinks combined with the neutrals found among cherry trees in bloom.
