Mood boards and brand stories are great tools to help you to clarify your message or your unique brand. To uncover what’s important to you, to visualise what your goal is and what it is that you want to communicate and project. When you're developing a visual corporate identity or personal branding, a mood board can help you define, refine or even discover your brand identity.
A mood board helps define the mood or emotion that you want your design to express and because of it's unfinished nature it allows the designer to explore broad ideas and get feedback and make changes before too much time and budget is wasted zooming in on details whilst going in the wrong direction. You save a tremendous amount of time and energy by taking the time to make initial explorations. It works like a kind of fast, visual prototyping.
This is the first mood board for my Marmalade Moon brand identity project. Here I've explored vintage aesthetics and DIY possibility of branding handmade boutique products that are produced on a small scale.
